Day 1 Saturday 22nd April

Welcome to Istanbul, where you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. Tonight, meet your guide and the rest of your group.

Day 2 Sunday 23rd April
Istanbul Old City
After breakfast, you enjoy a fully guided tour of the only city to span two continents, visiting the Blue Mosque, St Sophia Museum, Topkapi Palace and the Hippodrome. Late in the afternoon we will drive to Harbiye Military Museum for a short visit. Tonight don't miss the optional Turkish Folklore evening.

Day 3 Monday 24th April
Gallipoli
Today we spend the morning at the southern tip of the Gallipoli Peninsula at the International Service at the Turkish Memorial, Mehmetcik Abide, and then the Commonwealth Service at the British memorial. We then enjoy a BBQ lunch before heading to the Dawn Service site. (B, L)
Day 4 Tuesday 25th April
Anzac Day at Gallipoli
Awake before sun rise for the ANZAC Day Dawn Service. We become aware of the almost deafening silence as the moving service to commemorate our fallen forefathers on this special day begins. You will then have the chance to attend the New Zealand Memorial Service before we cross the Dardanelles and drive to Ayvalik for a well-deserved rest. Unfortunately the Australian service at the Lone Pine memorial has been cancelled.

Day 5 Wednesday 26th April
Pergamum
After breakfast we drive along the Aegean coastline and tour the magnificent acropolis of Pergamum. We will enjoy a display of locally handcrafted leather goods before heading to the resort town Kusadasi.

Day 6Thursday 27th April
Ephesus, Sirince
Absorb yourself in history today with a visit to the site of the Temple of Artemis and a guided tour of the ancient city and theatre of Ephesus. Carpet weaving has long traditions in Turkey and next we learn how carpets are made by hand and what determines their value before an afternoon visit to the former Greek village of Sirince, famous for its fruit wines.

Day 7 Friday 28th April
Pamukkale, Hierapolis
This morning we will enjoy a display of locally handcrafted leather goods before we drive east to the calcium terraces of Pamukkale (cotton castles), where we also visit the ruined city of Hierapolis, an ancient spa town just above the calcium terraces.

Day 8 Saturday 29th April
Bursa
Today we head back to Istanbul, passing through rural Turkey and ancient Bursa where we will visit the famous Green Mosque and explore the Silk Bazaar.
