Pamukkale: The word Pamukkale means Cotton Castle and it was formed thousands of years ago when calcium rich spring water cascaded over the hillside and reacted with air to form a brilliant white snowy chalk coat. Pamukkale is unique and can be matched by no other site in the world.

Hierapolis

Standing immediately above the waterfalls of Pamukkale is the ancient city of Hierapolis famous for its necropolis (meaning city of the dead). This is one of the best preserved cemeteries in Turkey, and the largest, with over 1,200 tombs of different shapes and sizes. Some are huge family vaults and some date back to the days of Alexander the Great.
