Located in a fertile alluvial plain, the region of Güzelyurt (or Morphou) on the west coast is commonly called the "Fruit garden of Cyprus".

Located in a fertile alluvial plain, the region of Güzelyurt (or Morphou) on the west coast is commonly called the "Fruit garden of Cyprus". The Turkish word Güzelyurt can be translated literally as "Beautiful country".
The excursion will first take you to St Mamas Monastery, built in the 18th century over the tomb of the saint. According to the legend , St Mamas is the patron saint of tax evaders .

Afterwards you will visit Güzelyurt Museum, right next to the church. This archaeology and natural history museum has a remarkable collection of archaeological finds that date back to the 8th century BC . Also, an assortment of stuffed animals will present you the variety of the local fauna .

To continue your trip, you will visit the ancient city of Soli. The city's history dates back to the 7th century BC when Solon, a famous philosopher of the Hellenistic antiquity, suggested to the king Philokypros to settle his capital to that location. In Soli you will see some of the most exquisite floor mosaics .
